Abandoned at birth by his genie mother, Fenix found the belonging he was looking for when, at the age of twelve, he was taken in by the Brothers of the Flame. Awestruck by young Fenix’s ability to produce fire with a snap of the fingers, the Brothers trained him in their ways and expect loyalty in return.
Over the years, the discipline of the Brothers sunk deeply into Fenix, despite the tempestuousness of his true self. For calm and meditative though he appears, a certain volatility writhes beneath the surface. It burns like molten lava beneath a crust of earth. One day, Fenix fears, it may explode.
As beholden as he is to the laws of his Brothers, Fenix remains caught in an internal tug of war—genie versus human; good versus evil.
